loofah-y bath net ball sponge things

I have no idea what the heck these things are called.
You see them for sale eveywhere (drugstore, target, Body Shop) and yet evey time I buy one it falls apart in a week.

What's a good brand? Is it possible to get a good quality one? or are they just wear items?

I bought mine from wegmans and it seems to be holding up just fine after 6 months of use. Maybe don't scrub so hard?

I would say dont buy a Loofa or one of those poof ball things. They are a bacteria magnets if you keep one for a while. Then you use it and scrub **** into your skin. Basically using something you can wash often (wash cloth) is much better and less likely to cause blemishes.

I'd skip the net ball thing, and get a buf puf body sponge or loofah terry pad instead. They're easier to rinse out, dry faster, and exfoliate more effectively. They should be replaced pretty often, though.

I like the nylon Salux cloths. They're like 36 x 12 washcloths, dry extremely fast and you can put them in a washer. Never had a problem with it tearing in the wash.

That's sad in a very funny way.

How about a natural sponge? Not as rough as a loofah but still suds nicely. Plus, they're huge with the femininas.

Out of curiosity, how hard are you scrubbing that you're trashing these things in a week? They should be lasting you a good 2 - 3 months at the minimum.

I'm exagerating a bit, but they're not exactly made to last.

My problem is more one of hard water and low pressure showerheads, the only way I can get a good lather and scrub is with aids.
They are great though, I remember the first time I used one I felt cleaner than ever, and though "I'll never go back to plain old soap".

Oh, and I don't want a bacteria magnet.

Ah. Well then, allow me to introduce the shower filter:

Vitashower Shower Filter

Using something like this will help reduce the PH in your shower water, allowing you to lather easier. Better for the skin also.

As long as you're rinsing them out well, and hanging them to dry, they really shouldn't be developing that much bacteria.

If you spin them by the attached rope (with the shower curtain closed!), centrifugal force dries them! The washing machine seems to break down the rigidity a lot faster (so you can lather but not scrub). I wonder if you could microwave them like sponges? Or put them in the dish washer?
