Long Wing Options?

Alden, AE, and Florsheim--any others?

Something with just a hint of sleekness? I like the Macneil, but the pairs I recently tried on all suffered from poor quality control.

I tried three pairs of Macneils--which is a great long wing last to my eyes--and not only were the fits inconsistent, but the leather behind the toe broguing wasn't flat/seated properly. (DC and Chicago stores.)

I have the Ralph Lauren Sanderson burnished long wings made by Allen Edmonds and they've been great shoes. No issue with quality since they are made to Ralph Lauren standards, not AE's.

They are TTS. But on the narrow side. Also they don’t do EE or EEE. Try them on if you can before ordering. My feet was cooked for first few weeks(I am 8EEE on left and 8E on right and my pair is 8E).
**In Australia they do E , in US I think only available in D.

My Sanderson's ran a little long and I should have sized down from a 9.5 to a 9 but since I wear them mostly during the winter, I wear a thicker sock. I found that most of RL's shoes run a little long.

E used to not have an equivalent model, but introduced the same model in their Independence line as the RL Sandersons.

With that said, I like the burnishing on the RL version better but if you need a specific width, it might be better to go with the AE version.

Sizing down on RLs’ …. your feet must be really narrow. I have 2 pairs of RLs both pairs runs really narrow and I should’ve sized up by 1/2 .

Actually wearing the Sanderson's today...I have a medium width foot and with a pair of merino wool socks, they're a perfect fit. After wearing today, sizing down a half size would not have been possible, not as much room in the toe box as previously thought!

If you're looking for a sleeker looking long wing you ought to try the AE Larchmont. It's a new AE wingtip on the new 333 last. You probably need to size down a half. I wear 10.5 and the 10 fits great. I am a huge Alden fan (as my name indicates), but for the money the walnut calf Larchmont is a heck of a deal. I like it better than the Sanderson and the Williams (which BTW I do not believe is the same as the Sanderson). Check it out...
