I'm going to have to put my dress shoes (as well as nearly everything else) into storage for roughly 18 months. Having never stored shoes for this long I'm not sure what the best approach is to take in order to care for them properly.
The self-storage unit that I've rented is climate controlled meaning that the unit will be between 50-80 degrees year round. I've also taken the liberty of giving each shoe one last cleaning with a focus on leather conditioner.
What I don't know is if it makes a big deal to store the shoes flat on their heels or if I can store them turned to the side. I still have the original Allen Edmond boxes from when I purchase them and when I went to store them I noticed that all of the shoes were turned to the side. Not sure if this would cause any issues over a year and a half, or if I'm just being paranoid.
