Not sure if this has been brought up here already but there is a new store open in Marylebone stocking some hard to find brands (at least in London) such as J Crew, Kitsune, Incotex.

Recently been covered by Simon Crompton on his blog below:

http://permanentstyle.blogspot.com/2...clothiers.html

I have not had a chance to check it out but it looks interesting

Cheers
KJ

perfect I was looking for a lot of those brands last time, I was in London, so that shop will definitely get bookmarked.

Don't think it was mentioned in that blog post, but Mats, the owner, is Tyler Brule's boyfriend.

I stopped by the shop today and there is indeed some beautiful stuff. Not too many shoes - I saw a few pairs of Lodgers and a few pairs of Aldens, all seeming to be > £450. The J Crew shirts were nice, and, like the Aldens, pretty much dollars to pounds (around £60). The Beam +, Piombo and Kitsune items were very nice, and I have to say the staff are really nice and helpful and eager to talk and explain the brands. A bit out of my league, all in all, but they've chosen some great items, and are very friendly, so I really hope they succeed. They were written up in Time Out London as well as GQ, so hopefully they'll get the punters in...

i still need to visit, it does sound like a good selection. i believe the owner is tyler brule's partner, so should not lack for media coverage.

I can confirm that Trunk is part of the Monocle-Winkreative-Tyler extended business family (not sure if tyler actually owns some shares but they are openly linked). I've never visited but from articles I've read the selection seems pretty much in line with the Monocle aesthetics. Smart suiting, slim silhouettes, a lot of Italian and Japanese stuff, Alden, etc.

Being a Canadian how did Tyler became so obsessed about all this obscure brands?

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
