I will find myself in London, for the first time in little over a month. I only have three days and I wanted to devote one day to shopping. Of course, I am somewhat familiar with the shops on Savile Row, but I'm a student and therefore on a budget. I would be willing to spend no more than 500 pounds on a suit, and 100 pounds on a pair of shoes. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I may find some unique tweeds, or shoes with character? Also I have noticed the British love to wear socks with character, anywhere I could find purple socks or red socks?

I do plan on coming back to London in the fall so perhaps if there are some reasonable bespoke tailors I would be interested in maybe starting a relationship so please recommend.

Lastly, if there are any nice thrift shops in London, I'd love to get their locations. Thanks in advance gentlemen.

Unless it will really mean something to you to have bought it in London I suggest saving your money and buying in the US. (I am assuming you are American)

Prices are absurd in the UK (for the same item), and even worse in London. Yes, there are some deals here and there, but I would suggest spending that day enjoying the city. You wont get very far with 500/100 on suits and shoes. (at least not on SF approved stuff)

In this interwebby age you can get anything you want once you get back home.
