LONDON FASHION WEEK FW2014 - MENSWEAR 6/01 - 8/01
New year new format. Glorious.
Lazy reviewing ahead.
Order not indicative of anything.
That guy really likes Raf Simons
And that guy really likes Helmut Lang
As far as gender-bending goes, this is more convincing that his previous experimentations.
Sumptuously sedate. I'd lie if I said I didn't miss the looser proportions. Full collection in the Margaret Howell thread
AGI & SAM
Surprisingly restrained in terms of colors and prints compared to their previous collections. For the better. Good stuff.
I like that Patrick Grant doesn't simply use the tailoring heritage of the brand as an excuse to churn out dull suits collections season after season but that he goes a bit crazy with it (colors, volumes). I don't like everything here but the colors combinations and silhouettes straight out of Raf SS05 win me over.
Music, youth, subcultures, nostalgia.
CRAIG GREEN (MAN show)
Always solid stuff. Always a great palette, touches of bright colors that pop among a sea of warm comfy muted tones. The orange lining on some jackets recalls MA-1s, nice.
ALAN TAYLOR (MAN show)
Not so sure about the mid-show looks but otherwise quite nice, there's a bit of recent CdG in there. Interesting details, lots of tweed. Full collection in the Alan Taylor thread.
So that's it ?! Well, fuck you.
Oliver Spencer was cool. Really underrecognized brand. MH was nice but agree about liking the looser stuff. Lee Roach seems to be out of ideas or just coasting or something. Too young for that.
Great styling over at e. Tautz
Milan winning so far
