I know that some people may frown upon this, here on SF, but when the tough gets going, the going gets tough and you do what you have to in order to stay afloat.

I have recently just moved to England and am finding it difficult to break into the London fashion/shoe scene. I have quite a strong and diverse background when it comes to men's shoes, a degree in business and would have thought that with my credentials it would be relatively easy to find entry level work. Apparently I was wrong.

If there is anybody on the SF that is connected in some way to the London fashion/shoe scene, I would truly be appreciative to any advice or networking opportunities that one could provide.

I am happy to provide my credentials over personal email via PM.

Thanks, in advance, to those who reply seriously.

-Justin

P.S. - For those itching to reply in some condescending or irrelevant way, please refrain yourselves. This forum does not always need to revolve around bashing each other.

Do you mind discussing this with a fellow forumite who is seriously looking to change careers towards the shoe (both men and women's) fashion industry? I could also use some advice pointers and share ideas.

Not at all, let's just hope that someone is actually on here that would be kind enough to provide such insight

Send a PM to forum member Alfred Sargent letting him know you are there and would like a factory tour. When you meet them try to sell yourself and bring a few examples of your work, you may become useful. Or not.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
