I know its very short notice, but I thought a heads up was due on this for London and SE UK SFers (especially since it was quiet and the staff there were very nice and helpful).

There is a Kilgour clearance sale today in Oxshott, Surrey, UK. I just got back, searched on the web for more info and found this: http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/advertisi..._designer_sale

From memory, they had the following:

Past season suits starting from £150 (I got me a grey pinstripe for £150)
Blazers starting from £100 (I picked up a 100% cashmere blazer marked down from £1500
Full cashmere overcoats starting at £300 (I would've def got one if I didnt already have one)
Past high end suits at £500 (lovely but couldnt justify since didnt fit me right)
This season suits half price at £1k
Shirts starting at £30
Ties £30+
Croc/Leather wallets £50 ish
Scarves, Trousers etc.

I thought there was a wide range of stuff in lots of sizes (although I have never been to a Kilgour sale), so those lucky enough to be able to get there today by 5pm (and have the funds available) should check it out.

I asked, and was told they have no plans for any more such sales in the near future ("maybe once a year")

Interesting, and I know someone within 15 minutes of the place who may be in the market for something. I'll let him know; thanks!

I can't be bothered to drive all the way there myself, esp. since I'm not really in the market for anything much right now that I haven't already ordered, but it's interesting that they're doing this in as random a place as Oxshott.

Yeah - I actually asked about this and was told that the area and venue was simply recommended to them (affluent area and all that). Certainly seemed a good venue though (spacious hall with easy access, plenty of parking etc).

Am sure London would have given a higher number of shoppers/browsers - but, hey, I'm not complaining one bit with having the whole selection to browse on my own

I grew up not far away. Sounds like Oxshott has changed a bit since then! It was pretty much a sleepy - if well-off - commuter village then. The article makes it sound truly awful now.

There you are, getting my hopes up. I saw the thead title and thought it would be in the Music Rooms or whatever it's called off Oxford Street.

As affluent at area Oxshott might be, it's pretty out of the way for most people and surely most people in the environs thinking of getting suit are likely to work in London anyway.

Yes... but their wives will most likely be at home in Oxshott during the day, probably delighted to have a distraction, and you'll notice that the sale headlines with Fitriani gowns and other such items likely to appeal to that audience. They can buy a Kilgour suit or accessories for hubby by way of compensating for binging on dresses.
