There is a deal to be had for those that like Italian shoes. I just received this e-mail from Lodger

"In the future, Lodger will focus on crafting the finest shoes made in England. That means, we will be discontinuing all of the existing styles that are currently made in Italy.

To make room for the new Spring / Summer collection that will be arriving in the shop in the coming weeks, we are closing out all of our existing Italian stock. Originally priced at £550, we will be offering all styles for £150 until the end of March. This is only available for stock on hand, and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. When they''re gone, they''re gone forever. If you have a favorite pair, now is your time to pick up a back up."

Hm, what needs to be done to get the discount? The Italian shoes on the website are still full priced? Thanks!

Could be blake/rapid.

I do know that Lodger shoes are made by Alfred Sargent.

Thanks for that clarification PB

I just went by the store and they are pretty much sold out of any reasonable sizes (and I am a UK 11 so go figure)

They did mention that some of the English shoes may go on sale in the next few weeks. Suggested that anyone interested should call and place an order. Email is not preferred.

That being said, I was disappointed with the style of the shoes as well as the last/feel.
Perhaps it was just the Italian shoes and the English ones may be better

Best of luck
KJ

I do prefer their English shoes over Italian, although I prefer English shoes. However, £150 is a bargain for their shoes.

The quality on their Italian range is hit or miss. The original asking price was comparable to the likes of Ferragamo Tremezza's, Santoni FAM and the like, which IMHO are a much better buy.

The clear out consists mainly of ex-display and returns and few sizes are available. Personally I'd put the money towards their GY welted shoes anyday, which are made by Alfred Sargent & Cheaney.

There is nothing wrong with calfskin ex-display shoes - given them a good polish and they should be fine. Suede is another matter.

Disagree. Don't you think the shop selling the shoes would 'give them a good polish' if that was the simple remedy for all the ills of ex-display shoes? Really.

I have had the opposite experience to Northampton Novice buying display shoes at Lodger. The display shoe had been properly polished and bought to a shine in the toe area, the shoe from the box was unpolished. Clement was kind enough to polish up the other shoe to match the display one at no cost to me within a couple of hours.
