Locker Loops: Not only useless but destructive?

I've noticed on some of my high end suits and sport coats, there is a locker loop sewn into the inside collar. I am dumbfounded as to why it's there. I've never used it. Wouldn't using it ruin the suit? If you really need to put the jacket somewhere, wouldn't it be a better idea to just lay it down or fold it than use the locker loop?

Anyone use them?

I usually just hang the jacket straight on the hook even in that situation. The locker loops never look substantial enough for me to trust them to hold up the weight of the jacket even briefly.

+1 Most stalls have a hook so you can hang your coats and hats. This can be particularly useful in keeping those pesky wandering eyes out of the cracks in the stall.

Watch out for the wide stance in the adjacent stall.

I use it in the car when I drive with my jacket off. I've never had a problem with hanging my jacket this way.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
