how much does this cost? I am in NYC - anyone know the process for this?

Can anyone weigh in with some before and after lobb recraft photos?

Anyone have any experience with sending Lobb shoes in for recraft?

I called the store - to have the heel done, that is local - sent to leather spa or local independent for $60.

Full resole is $450 and sent to France.

i did the unthinkable a month ago. i put a topy on a pair of lobbs

looks pretty good imo. canadian winters are not kind to leather soles and it sure beats 450 dollar resoles.

Resole for RTW costs are normally about a third of shoe price, although with this can vary depending on the range and brand. Edward Green resoles are about 30% of the retail, although Barkers can be as high as 50% of the retail price.
The last time I saw US prices for JL, they were between $1.1k and $1.5k; which makes $450 on par with costs plus shipping.

The shoes would be sent to Northampton, England where JL make RTW shoes. The only JL made in France are John Lobb Paris bespoke shoes.

Comparing costs of local shoe-repair heel replacement to JL resole replacement is unfair, the former costs a lot less. For example, a heel replacement at James Taylor is a about a fourth of the cost of a full resole.
Using the same ratio, it makes JL about double the price. There can be a different in the quality of the work*, considering the cost of JL and that they may refuse any future work, you should let JL do the resole.


*comparing work from a local clobber and James Taylor, the former only charges a third of JT costs

What is the condition of the uppers? If the shoe needs to be resoled, I imagine that they cant be in great condition. THIS is my understanding of the largest differential with a manufacturer's recrafting -- that in addition to replacing the sole, they perform a pretty thorough refurbishment and polishing of the uppers.

Someone check me on this though. I do not own a pair of Lobbs and have never sent any of my shoes for recrafting.

check out bnelsonshoe corp in nyc. there are probably reviews of the same. Nick has installed sunken toe plates for me. Did an excellent job on a trivial repair.

More efficient to relegate worn-down shoes to beater fleet and spend any money on new, MTO/bespoke copies for fair weather daily fleet...and periodically repeat cycle of consumption...
