I am recycling this thread to ask about the pewter museum Lobb color. How versatile is it?
Works very well with a mid-gray suit, how about navy?

Old discussion topics:
Any reason to prefer the standard dark brown calf vs. the museum dark brown calf?

Anyone have any comparison pics?

Having only seen the standard calf dark brown in person, I love the way the museum looks in person and in pics, but I am also apprehensive that may come off a bit too "fancy". FWIW, I am looking at an otherwise conservative lace up captoe.

Any thoughts?

Museum is great, and will only be available for a short while longer as JL is discontinuing it. I like the shoes I have in museum and receive compliments on them often. My favorite is plum, but brown looks great, too.

A while back Ron Rider posted that whichever tannery made the leather decided to stop. I don't recall all of the reasons. The other interesting thing out of it was that it was the same leather Martegani was using and calling Radica

Plum is definitely the best

Though I have a special preference for the Misty Chestnut as well.

I think Ilcea of Italy is the tannery of museum calf.

Looks like i got my order in just in time. I have a pair of special order Vale monk's in Museum Plum on their way to me as we speak, orderd end of June. Its very odd, they cost me less than they were selling them for when Vale was a standard production shoe

>.> You weren't charged the 25% (or was it 15%) surcharge for ordering a shoe that isn't in production anymore?
