Check out Herring Shoes who have quite a few models on the 026 last, made by Loake.

I don't own a pair, but have heard very good things about the "Tweed".

Looking at the Shoemaker range though, I noticed the women's "Godiva" boot.
Is there anything that would stop this being worn by a man?
I don't see any other Dainite soled jodhpur boots on the market.

Yes , thanks Odradek , there are some nice looking herring branded shoes on the 026 last , like the Knightsbridge , for example .

Yes, I wondered if there was any reason why men couldn't wear womens' Loake shoes.

I agree - the 3625 is probably my favourite Loake last - it fits me so well and is a classic shape . I'd still rather wear these in polished leather than be uncomfortable in calf - if it came down to that . I owned some AS Exclusive with the highest specs a while ago (finest calf , oak bark tanned sole , fiddle back waist , channelled sole ) but they felt hard and uncomfortable and so I sold them after persevering for awhile; although they may of course suit others perfectly well . Life is too short for uncomfortable shoes .

Any Loake summer sales ongoing or imminent that anyone knows of?

The Herring Shoes sale has just started today, but they don't really have much good stuff in the sale this year.

I was surprised by how meager it is. I'd been holding off, figuring the sale was just around the corner.

They did seem to delay it a bit, and yes, there's very little quality stuff on offer.

Glad I took the plunge on 2 pairs of Allen Edmonds last month.

The Herring sale back at Christmas time was so much better, but I'd no money to spend at the time.

Just found this thread so I can offer a quick reply to a few points raised recently. I usually take a UK 10 with an F or G width, F is a touch tight. I also have a high instep

The swing last in a 10 was huge on me.
I need a 10.5 for the capital last (Pimlico and Kempton), a 10 is too short.
The 026 Chester in a 10 F fits wide like a 10G on the Hexham boot ( just got them, superb boots)

    Hope these comments help.

Oops, sorry. Meant to say 10.5 in capital and 026 lasts(pimlico and kempton)
And 024 F in Chester on a 10 is same as 10G on Hexham (026)

    Schoolboy errors

Just discovered Brogue Shoes is having a sale with quite a few Loakes, though the sizes are somewhat limited. I've never ordered there, but for me it's a better selection than what Herring is offering.

How do you find the width of the capital? I generally take a 9.5 or 10 in a G or an F with a wide last, and I can't decide what to try for the capital, which I'm told is a true-fitting F. I'm afraid I'd have acres of room in the toe if I went with a 10.5 to get the right width.

I needed the width as well so took the 10.5 on the Pimlico Capital last I went up half a size so maybe the 10 would be ok for you.

I found the Capital last to be a little generous all round - for me slightly larger fitting than the the 026 for example .
