Specifically I am looking at fit on the Church's 73 Last, I am a UK 9 F

The Dorchester is on the Mayfair last, the Aldwych is on the Capital last.

Any help on size, as I cant try these on, would be appreciated!

I personally would pick the aldwych cause i like the side stitching better.

"too sleek" is relative. Do you wear full trousers or super slim?

With trousers I usually wear slim tapered legs.. not too slim. I was just thinking the Dorchester stitching looked odd --sleekness was the word I could think of. The more I think about it the more similar the two seem though.

Do you have any experience with either last by any chance?

Dorchester run long in the toe.

Size 1 UK down to stretch the shoe to your foot or size .5 down for a relaxed fit from day one.

I did some research quite a while back and I happen to have a Herring made by Cheaney on the 2003 last. My research on SF tells me it is the same last as the old Church 73. I'm a 10.5UK F on this.

Comparing that to my Loake Knightsbridge (Capital last, 10.5UK F), I find the Herring is shorter and tighter at the ball, needing a bit of stretching to get a better fit. Fits nearly perfect but still a tad too tight.

Both fit well but if you have wider feet, go for the Capital. There is a reason why it's Loake's most popular and prevalent last. It's quite a nice looking last. And the Aldwych punches above its price point on its looks and build quality. Check out pediwear's blog http://www.pediwear.co.uk/newsitem/60.php for a last comparison of the Loakes

Good luck!

If the assumption is correct, the most similar fitting size for Loake's Capital would be half a size down according to Sizeadvisors' database. Is seems about right given your experience.

To the OP:

Unfortunatly, there's no direct comparison from Church's 73 last in F to either Capital or Mayfair, yet.

You could be right Claus. My Loake Capital on first fitting at home was very comfortable but heel slip (slight) was present. Luckily it became very comfortable with wear, despite the heel which didn't become a problem at all. On hindsight, sizing down by 0.5 could have been a more 'perfect' fit, likely tight but which would loosen up with wear.

BTW, nice website. Very useful as the database grows...

Thank you! :)

Right now it seems to be holiday season, but in the previous months, ratings and associated measures did increase nicely, so I'm quite optimistic it'll become more and more useful.
