Looking for some guidance / options on some suede loafers. No tassles, no slipper. Simple penny loafer or the like. I am looking for a chocolate/dark brown suede to wear w/jeans, corduroy, etc. Pretty much casual wear. Trying to find a last between stodgy old-school and modern/progressive. Budget-wise, what I've seen puts this well under $400. Options I've seen so far:

Meermin

Myrqvist

Lof & Tung

Morjas

TLB

Guidance on quality of the above and other suggestions appreciated.

I'd go with Alden's LHS for a penny. Maybe AE or Carmina.

Thanks - I'll look at Carmina again. The last time I checked their site the only loafer model I liked had a split toe, which is not ideal for me.

These are the only Carmina loafers I like but, unfortunately, rubber sole.

Is the suede, welting, stitching, etc quality 2x better than the suspects in similar price point (Meermin, Myrqvist, Lof & Tung, Morjas, TLB)?

Unfortunately, I don't own any loafers by those companies, incl Carmina. People do say that if you're going to get shoes from cheaper companies, suede shoes may make the most sense, since the differences in quality are lower than for other materials.

I guess I am down to a few options in brown suede;

Meeerin
Smogen
Morjas

I was tempted by these loafers from Antonio Meccariello but the shoe would need modification to make it fit w/my low volume foot.

My favourite pair of suede loafers (and the only pair I own :-D):

These beauties are 1 year old and holding up incredibly well. There is something about the last 341 that makes them perfect for penny loafers.

I have the Weymouth and the Lowndes; but no 341's.
