Or so goes a lyric currently getting airtime. Which makes me think, what fifteen cars would I like in the stable, and could I get to fifteen cars that I really like enough individually, not merely, hey, toss in a Veyron just because? It actually seems a better question than "what is your favorite car?" which is almost as bad as "what is your favorite suit?" because we have interests from different facets of our personality. Interesting what you find out -- surprised my father wanted an Enzo in there. What's your (up to) fifteen cars? Don't need to be in precise order, though mine are close. Here's mine. Piccys great, as ever: 1. Lister Le Mans full house, non-fastback coupe. A semicustom job based on the Jaguar XJS, with twin superchargers on a V-12 and up to 700 ponies. Elegantly restrained violence, which is a theme for my top three. http://www.krainatapet.pl/tapety/sta...0v12%20001.jpg 2. Aston-Martin DB9. 400+ hp V-12. [IMG] 3. Mercedes SL65 AMG. Massively torquey, high hp sleeper. I saw one twice, very sweet, and I suspect it lives two blocks from me. Also it has a V12 (can you tell I have a problem with V-12's?) http://www.superhry.cz/tapety/c.php?...4_sl65-amg.jpg 4. Lotus Exige. Violence not so elegantly restrained. For fun and killer looks -- it grins at you constantly the way you do getting out of it. Image happens to be of the Espionage edition, which comes with a matching Gieves and Hawkes suit. [IMG] 5. 1963 Corvette Coupe. The first of the radical 'Rays. Old-school badassery all the way. It was my first ever 'favorite car.' First time I saw one I screamed. [IMG] 6. Jaguar XJ-S. I just think it's beautiful, and I love the flying buttresses on the rear deck lid. I still remember the first one of these I saw, and fortunately I drive one. It must have saved my sanity. I want another one. [IMG] 7. 1967 427cid Corvette Convertible. The apotheosis of everything about the Stingrays, missing only the split rear window.[IMG] 8. TVR Sagaris. British. Kinda daft. Very violent. Very cool. Very fast. [IMG] 9. Jaguar XKE Series III. The Zeke (as I call it) has always been a fave of mine -- refined, elegant style. And a V12. [IMG] 10. Morgan Aero 8. Retro done right -- a PT Cruiser it ain't. Looks like loads of fun, would go well with other hobbies of mine. [IMG] 11. Marcos TSO GT2. Again British. Daft. Fast. Violent. Shark-like. [IMG] 12. 1970's Opel GT. The minime of sportscars. I saw one and thought it was the cutest car ever. A baby Sting Ray, with a bit of a daft wart on the hood, though. [IMG] 13. Plymouth Superbird Always stare when I see one. Watched one burn a major patch of rubber on the street one day. Wasn't actually that cool in poular conception in 1970, but now! [IMG] 14. 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk. The best of the rocket age. Sleek and not over the top. [IMG] 15. Jaguar XK120. Takes your breath away. [IMG] And I've missed a BMW, more Jags, and a few other things. Don't know what that says, but there it is. For whatever reason, my mind won't let me compute things like a Bugatti T57 Atlantic, so these are merely what fits my picture of reality. You may be different, so... Regards, Huntsman

LK, I knew you would post about 3/4 of those. Your penchant for swoopy, florid cars never ceases to entertain me. [IMG] Likewise I'm sure with my preferences for detroit steel and Japanese racecars. I do like the Pegaso, the Lancia Flaminia Zagato, and Lancia Florida though. Especially the Florida. Did that ever come in a convertible? I could never see myself actually driving that Talbot-Lago anywhere. I'd feel preposterous.

    Excellent, guys.

    TS, +1 on the 507 (!!!), and the 2000GT

LK, the Delahayes! Breathless. And the Pegaso, I have never seen before.

[IMG] This was a close tie with the mini - but the modern conveniences of seat belts and a functional windshield won out. I like the Austin-Healy aesthetically though.

The Lancia Florida was some sort of a prototype, I believe, and they did make a two-door version actually. It was the base for the later Flaminia, of which the Coupe version Pinin Farina said he wanted to drive to heaven.

Pegaso was a Spanish auto manufacturer built on the remains of the old Hispano-Suiza factory.

Some of those post-war Delahayes are unbelievably flamboyant:

Doubtful. At least according to J when I asked about it once. Evidently none of these photos ever touch our server.

Yeah, that's my understanding as well, or I wouldn't post anything this gratuitously wasteful of SF bandwidth. As the images reside on other people's servers other places, all that bounces of SF is the line of code for the link -- the avatars probably have a bigger impact.

SOmeone correct me if I'm wrong.

Oooh man I can have fun with this one.

First of all, let me mention that I would like the house to be a gigantic villa on the ocean near Miami. Now since that is cleared up-

    1. Aston Martin DB9. The most beautiful car on the road IMO. I would like mine to be a convertible, in black with black leather.

    2. Mercedes SL600. I know this pic is an SL550 but it doesn't matter too much. I want mine to be a convertible, tan with tan leather.

    3. Mercedes S600. That is one nice sedan [IMG] Black on black leather, again.

    4. Range Rover. So I can go out driving in a hurricane or something. Actually I would have no use for this truck but it is still cool.

    5. Bentley Arnage. Black on black.

    6. Maybach 62, black/pearl on black.

    7. Bentley Azure, light blue on tan.

    8. A Jaguar XKE. The quintessential British gentleman's roadster. British racing green, with tan leather.

    9. Lamborghini Murcielago roadster, lime green on white. For the beach and cruising through Miami with salsa music blasting on the radio. Oh man, feel the power.

    10. An older Jaguar XJS convertible, that I would ship to England and keep there. to cruise around the countryside in. Mine would be tan on tan. Huntsman, I remain envious [IMG]

    11. A Jaguar limo. For those nights out on the town. Mine would be black.

    12. A Ferrari 360 spyder, just because I love the look of it. Mine would be these exact colors.

    13. Ferrari Testarossa, white on black. For those Miami Vice moments in life.

    14. Lamborghini Countach, just because. Same color combo as the Testarossa.

    15. And finally a classic for me, the Aston Martin DB5. The classic Bond car. This has gotta be a chick magnet if I've ever seen one.
    Bring me my Brioni suits!

I'm liking the love for the Testarossa and the Countach.

Interesting that the XKE is in the lead, here. Not that I was counting, but I noticed.
