I have recently bought a brioni jacket from a sale but I hate the color of the lining and would like to change it to a different color lining. Any suggestions? Is it possible to change the lining of a jacket? Is it a lot of work and expensive? Would it damage the jacket in anyway if the lining is changed?

Not helpful, but why worry about what the inside of the garment looks like when nobody but you can see it?

That must be a truly awful lining. Tell us about it.

Yes, it's possible. I don't see why it would hurt the jacket if it's done right. I bet Brioni offers this service (for a price). Did you ask them?

You can always replace the lining of a jacket. It is a little more of a hassle to replace the lining of pocket flaps, so consider that when asking for a quote.

It is a pain to do and if you use a real tailor it should be expensive as it could take 5-6 maybe more hours to complete plus the cost of the lining. I'll bet the jacket will never be as nice as it is now.

Lining replacement is doable but expensive. I happened to notice what Ede charge for it the other day (on an out of date price list, so it's probably more now) and had to do a double take. Something along the lines of £175 IIRC.

That is a low/reasonable price. Cost of decent Bemberg Lining alone would cost $50.00 US, at wholesale cost to a tailor. The job entails so many things you may not consider. The lining makes contact with every aspect of the jacket, every area has be opened and remade. Collar, armholes, shoulder, vents and inside pockets. A brioni jacket has so many underpressings during construction the lining and cloth body will mold to each other. This "moldng" will not be the same. Big difference is during construction the jacket is "open" and pressing & shaping are more accessible than when the jacket is complete. I may overthink things but I think any repair or adjustment should equal or make the garment better than the original workings.

Oh I'm not denying the work involved, or saying the price is excessive. I was registering my surprise at seeing such a high-value alteration and that it was, I think, easily the most expensive alteration on the list.

By the way, your last line is an admirable viewpoint & partly why I choose to get my alterations done by a good tailor I trust rather than giving them to a cheap one.

I cant imagine a Brioni lining being that hideous. They are rather conservative. We need a "

" set of avitars....
