Linen suit + wool tie: is this a no-no?

I'm looking for a tie to wear with my khaki linen suit, and I want something with a little texture. I've found some nice wool ties, but i'm not sure if this is acceptable or not. If there were some more of those raw silk Pantas, that would be perfect.

Wool ties are something you'd usually put away with the coming of spring, which is just about when you'd take out a khaki linen suit. Go with silk.

since linen has plenty of texture, I'd go with a tie without texture, like a silk or cotton. Too much texture everywhere and you start looking like a pincushion.

Some folk seem to have some reservations but I do not think that in the real world there is problem so why ever not?

Few people are going to study the matter so just go for it. Those that do should have better things to do with their time.

While I am interested in the reasoning behind fabric choices, etc, +1! I think a grey, wool or knit would work, with a navy suit?

I think any objections are theoretical, and don't think there's a problem with it on principle. It comes down to personal preference.

I think it looks pretty good with a light, thin wool knit, personally. Curious what the gurus think.

I'd wear silk/linen blend.

I would not. Just feels oxymoronic, and I think that it would look a little silly. Go with a silk knit, grenadine, linen, or cotton tie if you want some sort of texture. You could do Shantung or Tussah, but I am not sure how I feel about such a combination with linen.

Really? I would think that shantung or tussah ties were meant almost especially for linen suits. Their rough/slubby texture and light weight are perfect compliments to the same in the linen fabric.
