Linen sportcoat with wool pants?

Depends on the finish of the wool. I would not wear something with a slick finish or with an open weave. It is not so much about mixing fabric types but textures.

I agree on the slick finish point, but not the open weave point. I would not wear gabardine or a tight plain weave with linen. But fresco, certainly.

I match linen and seersucker jackets with tropical wool trousers and vice versa.

+1. Nothing better than a linen jacket, linen pants and a linen shirt in summer.
