linen shirt with what fabric on the jacket?

I bought a couple of linen shirts now for the summer, my question is. what fabric should i be buying on jackets to combine them with the linen shirts i bought?

I'm thinking thin wool unstructured jackets, am i correct?

Wool fabric would be fine so long as it is a nice open weave. Cotton would also work.

There is no harm in using a linen jacket as well, so long as you mix up the textures. I have a couple of linen jackets - one is a reasonably heavy W. Bill, the other a very lightweight Caccioppoli, both very different in weight and texture and either works well with a linen shirt.

I must be a paradigm-bursting independent thinker . I have actually worn linen dress shirts with regular suits and sportcoats, including at least one one occasion to one of the fabled SF Bay Area meet-ups, where my combination was noted with approval. There are no higher Kudos than those from one's peers.
