My dad is ultra ultra particular about many things, one of which is the weight of his shoes. I don't understand his logic, but for whatever reason he refuses to buy new shoes because he cannot find any of comparable heft of his current 'collection.'

Any recommendations? He is looking shlumpy, he tore all of his tendons on his shoulder and I think its making him depressed!!!!

Price isn't really a concern, but likely not custom in the short term.

Thanks!

Thanks -- I saw a BB opened in Vancouver so will check it out (plus I wouldn't mind a pair of Peal & Co's)!

Any more ideas?

He doesn't wear a suit to work very often, and prefers a smart-casual look. He buys lots of Prada shoes, but not ones that look nice in a professional setting (ie., when he does wear a suit).

From my understanding of construction, I believe welting adds weight. I would look for Italian makers of whom I know nothing about. Perhaps Berluti?

My Guccis are all pretty lightweight since they use Blake stitching and a single, thin leather sole so I think that is a good point.

I own three pairs of Giorgio Armani's: one suede ribbed driver with large rubber "pebble" sole, one laced simple loafer with leather sole and another laced loafer with beautiful brogueing. All three are very light and probably the most comfortable shoes I own. While normally expensive, yoox has had some great deals on them recently.

He would defintely find Churchs, C&J, Lobbs, etc., to be way too heavy.
