Light brown loafers darken to dark brown when they get water on them

Hi
I have some dress loafers that I bought recently which darken to a darker colour the moment some water hits them. If a drop falls on the upper, a little dark spot appears right there and disappears only after the water has dried off.
What does this mean? Is it bad to let water drops hit your leather shoes?
I also kicked the wall of a friend's room the other day and got a scuff mark on the tip of my shoe. Any ideas for getting rid of that?
Thanks!

Even worse, I spilled a drink on my trousers and they got all wet. Later on I fell down and now there is a hole in them.

I'm really not sure how to respond to this.
But as to your second point, polish your shoes. Whether you can completely get rid of the scuff depends on how deep the scuff is. I will also assume the next logical question you will ask is how to polish shoes and what to use. Do a search. Countless of threads on that topic.
Please don't kick any more walls and you should probably go barefoot in the rain.

You cant forsee your shoes getting damp if water gets on them? You cant assume that if you kick a wall you will get a scuff on your shoe?
