I was at my local department store today, and came across Levi's 501 Shrink to fits, in black. I wasn't aware they made these at all. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed. My search fu is weak and I didn't see anything on them.

Here is a link of a store selling them:

search here and SuFu for "STF" and "shrink fit". There's a TON of info on these....trust me, cause I was looking at them hard about a month ago!

Bought a pair of these accidentally a couple of months ago, thinking I was getting the usual "rigid" blue denim STF. Didn't realize until after the soak and then wearing them out in daylight that they are actually black.

My observations: they don't seem to shrink as much as the blue denim STFs. They also don't seem to lose very much dye in the inital soak. And they don't seem as "rigid"--material seems a little lighter in weight. I think it would be hard to get these to look broken in (creases, whiskers, etc.) compared to the blue denim.

I'm not unhappy with them but I'm not in love with them either.
