Does anyone know of another maker who has the same cut/fit as the 513?
Okay...my question about the 513s is how are they different from the 512s? Here is a description of both styles:
512: The Levi's 512 jeans are a slim cut in the leg that tapers down to a narrow ankle opening for an overall slim cut look
513: With more room than our 511 Skinny and a higher rise than our 514 Slim Straight, the 513 Slim sits below the waist and is defined by a modern slim cut.
Unfortunately, I could not find a place that sold both styles so the descriptions are not from the same source. The 512 had been billed as essentially what the 513 is, but the 512 has not appeared on the Levi's site for quite a while now. I have a dark pair of the 512s that I really like and was curious about the difference.
513 are pretty good. I got a pair a couple months ago. I like the cut a lot. Not overly skinny, rise just right. But the denim is crap. paper thin (at least on the model I got) and suffers from baggy deform syndrome pretty quickly.
I just picked up a couple pairs of black 521s to try out so I thought I'd share my thoughts. I'm a normal 30 and I ordered them in 28 and 29. Both pairs are about two sizes larger than tagged size in the waist. The 29 fit is a little too loose in the thighs on me for the size of the hem (if you wanted a looser carrot fit they'd probably be good). The fit of the 28 is pretty good, however. The thighs are genuinely slim on me and the rise is pretty comfortable at around 10.5" (hem sits around 6.5" also). For reference I'm about 6' and 145 pounds. I kind of wish the back rise were a little higher though. I'm used to 14" or 15" with most of my jeans and these are only a little over 13". The denim is also pretty thin. But I already have some black jeans in heavier weights so that's not a huge issue for me. Overall they're not a bad slim but not skinny jean with a relatively tapered leg.
I ordered 512s in size 36/32 one year ago and they were not tapered down to an ankle at all. They were very slim in thighs and then almost straight to the bottom - so I would say 512s = 505s with slimmer thighs (but I was expecting 505s with tapered leg opening). I had to put them away because they were too thight - if I remember correctly they were 11.5" in thigh and 8.25" in leg opening (for size 36/32).
lol it appears they already got rid of the 521 and have replaced it with the 508.
I wear 511's. I used to wear 514 but I lost 25lbs and prefer the taper of 511's.
513's are much better fitting than 514 at least for me, but 513 have ugly looking jeans that are not as to date like 511 and 514.
Yeah, my 512s are not as tapered as I thought they would be....I know of another guy who had a pair of 512s and the tapering on them was more evident.
I'm going to check out levis this weekend. It looks good here.
They need to have the cut they sell in Japan. Slim but not tight. 511's are out if you play soccer, hockey or run. If you have any leg muscle at all you'd have to size up 3x.
I never knew Levis made 512s
I really hope they make 513s in more washes. I really want a pair but none in any of the offered washes.
This fit is on point, but all of the current washes are terrible.
i.e. the wash Levi's uses on it's own website when describing the 513 fit.
The neppy is the only one that I have. Not bad, but I hope they make a selvedge version.
How do you find the fit relative to 514s?
