It looks like they might have been worn, the twine that held all the tags are still in the back pocket, no real creases or anything.
Redline selvedge, with a leather patch. How can I tell how old these are?
They cost me 5 dollars at a local thrift store, I wasnt looking for jeans, but these jumped out. I normally wear a 33, these are a 36 and fit pretty well. So I am going to assume they were shrank.
What can I look at to tell how old they are? Should I sell these?

R stands for reproduction. Probably pretty recent too, great pickup!

I wouldnt trust that they have been shrunk, I'd probably give em a soak for a couple hours, just to be on the safe side especially if there are no creases.

you can call 800-Usa-Levi and they tend to be pretty helpful.

Good find.

I've been checking thrift stores fairly regularly for years and never found a premium or old pair of levis.

So in the rungs of the Levis ladder, where does something like this fall?
I have no reference point, I normally wear APC's and the likes. I must admit, they look good on and seem well made.
Hell, they were 5 bucks. I always find something awesome at this thrift store.
Chime in.

You can email pics to the Levi's Historian, Lynn Downey at LDowney at levi.com, and she will get back to you in about a week with an approximate age.

What are these worth, I thought about flipping these. I most likely will not. They fit sweet!

Well if I were to put it in a ladder I'd go Signature<Redtab<Silvertab<Premium<Red<Capital E~<~LVC. LVC's tend to be the most costly, but certain Capital E 501's can be just as costly and well made as LVC (their premium cap. e organic, for example). good find!

Well brand new they might have sold for $200-$250 I'd guess, but if you can't identify which year they're a repro of, or when they were produced (and I'm not enough of an expert to give you all that information), LVC enthusiasts on ebay, etc might not be willing to spend too much.
