There's nothing wrong with some good sarcasm. Nothing but sarcasm though, relieves a person from actually having to contribute to the conversation.

theres different types of sarcasm. im very sarcastic irl but in a joking way. ofcourse there are people who are sarcastic in a way to be mean or rude to someone else.

I'm often very sarcastic when I'm in a situation where I feel people are taking things way too seriously or worrying about something insignificant. Usually I'll just suggest some ridiculous solution to their problem really sarcastically. I don't know if it's a self-defense mechanism of sorts, usually just an indicator to them that I don't think what they're talking about is of any consequence.

Thanks for the replies.

I started this thread as I've often seen people with similar interests as myself (sartorial, culinary, antiques, eonological, etc.) that I quickly identified those whose interests were the same as mine were those who could poke fun of conventional standards and were those who would ultimately "get it", IMHO.
