What is the accepted etiquette, say if you go to get your pants slimmed and they still are way too baggy? Should you have to pay for another round of tapering? Or should it be free of charge?

From what I am reading here, it seems like most tailors are leery to alter clothes to the degree of slimness that is perceived as conventional on this board. Thus, encountering some early resistance as to what specifications YOU want seems like a common problem and, therefore, shouldn't necessarily be grounds for having to find a new tailor, am I correct?

I'm still trying to get my tailor to shorten my pants so they don't have a break. Appraently all SFers are wrong and pants are supposed to be long enough to reach below the heel. Who would have known?

it's very simple. tell him to do it your way or he won't be receiving return business.

Finding a tailor you can work with is difficult. If they make something too tight it is worse than too loose. There are risks with letting things out. Cutting the cloth or old stitch marks showing which you may object to. But you should be able to negotiate the tailor basting the bottoms and not finishing them. Go back and try them on basted to see if it is right. It is less work than if he finishes them completely and has to redo his work. Same goes for tapering. Ask for a pre-finish-fitting and flip him a nice tip for his extra attention. It should get easier after that.

For one pair, I just gave him the measurements at the thigh, knee, and hem....worked out great.

Its the total opposite of full cut pants, which look terrible if they're too short, they slim pants require it.

Along with that, the slimmer pants will really look good with a 2" cuff.

I hope you dont mind me being curt, but your shoes have always appeared to be swallowed up by your pants. You'll really get to show off those fantastic shoes by slimming up the pants alot.
