    There are actually people out there who like Surimi. Just looked at wiki and they say it was invented 900 years ago in Japan to make fish more durable. Good idea back then I guess, but now it's just a way to sell cheap fish leftovers for much money. I don't like the taste, maybe the "quality" stuff tastes better.

    i love kamaboko, but kanikama is....

    maybe like the chicken nuggets of japan. but not as tasty...

    I've never seen or eaten Kamaboko yet, but I guess it's the high quality version of surimi. Will definitely try it when I get the chance.

    I realize that california rolls are made with fake crab. Anyone ever had one that was made with the real stuff? Like an authentic california roll?

    I had a roll last time in was in Los Angeles that had fried calamari in it. It was fantastic.

    I feel like I am the only young person in Los Angeles who doesn't like sushi.... I like ceviche? does that count, at least in some recipes?
