Rejoice San Francisco coffee drinkers! This blog talks about what seems like all of the cafes in town, and strikes a grumpy tone when appropriate:

Here's a post that debunks 3rd waveisms: http://theshot.coffeeratings.com/2009/03/third-wave-social-fads/ In another post they call the owners of Sightglass "name brand fad whores" for having both a Strada and a Slayer in their cafe.

They also have an extensive index of coffee shops in the city and nearby, sortable by neighborhood: http://www.coffeeratings.com/

It certainly does. Roasted coffee beans go stale over time as they lose CO2, and grinding the beans just compounds the effect. It's always best to use a good burr grinder and grind within a few minutes of brewing.

Kahls kaffe' a swedish brand. I always take in chocolate beans, can't drink anything else now. I pay extra so they can ship it, since they don't sell it outside Sweden.

Another thing I've noticed with the Aeropress - does anyone get water filtering through while its supposed to be steeping? My latest batch from Whole Foods, a medium ethopian, is filtering out about 1/3 of the way before I can even do anything about it.

An interesting article about the search for more genetic diversity in coffee plants to make more productive and hardier hybrids. I'm not sure how long the WSJ will keep the article open, so read it while you can.

Just got in my Able metal Aeropress filter. Interesting brewing instructions they include with the filter:

    18g coffee
220g water poured slowly for 30 seconds
    wait 50 seconds
    stir gently for 10 seconds
    plunge slowly for 40 seconds

Seems to fly in the of most other recipes with the length of time used.

Maxwell instant coffee is all I got when I had to fight for a next day's exam...
Friends around me don't drink coffee as often as I do.
I was wondering that is it lame to drink instant coffee?..

The first time I succeeded in anything close to "latte art". :embar: No real shape, but the frothed milk broke through the crema.. I guess you guys know what I'm talking about. Ignore the 2-3 bigger bubbles please!
