Grinding your own beans really worth it? (vs buying pre-ground)
Think about each bean as a little sealed pod of flavor.
Once it's ground, think of all the surface area now exposed to air, just sitting there giving up all its magic.
I think it's why a lot of coffee experts suggest that a capable grinder is more important than the brewing equipment.

So i am back home which means im using my switch again. Was only using aeropress which im always amazed at how good and how foolproof it is. I just prefer more acidity in my cup which is why i have other toys.

Also my new mug helped the flavor.

My wife was off in Silicon Valley for work, so I got a delivery from one of my favorite coffee shops overnight.

Had my first cup of this Colombian from Black and White this morning after a two week rest:

https://www.blackwhiteroasters.com/products/r-elkin-guzman-yellow-fruit-nectar

When they say funky, they mean it. I don't know if it's off, or this is the intended expression, but it's the first co-fermented coffee that I've been able to describe the initial scent as almost cheese-like.

18g beans
305g water
1Zpresso K-plus grinder on 7.5
50g bloom in the Kalita Wave for 30s, then 25g pours every 10s, finishing up at 2:00. Top of bed went dry at 2:44.

I'm going to try going with a finer grind on my next cup, and maybe add more water to dilute the ratio a bit. I'm thinking it might be so funky that it is better iced.

Ya... I drink a lot of B&W and have found that when they rate it that far toward the end of their Funky scale, it's gonna be really in your face. I haven't had that one but see that it's a highly processed one. I enjoy an interesting coffee but sometimes they're a bit too fermentie for me.
