I had the Dead Kennedys and Suicidal Tendencies badges on my Army surplus jacket. I loved Minor Threat. I skated.

But in the end, I was probably a poser.

A classic. One of my favorite bands of the time was the Circle Jerks who had a "cameo" in that movie.

Yep. The good old days.

When DK broke up I wrote Jello Biafra a letter begging him to get back together. He wrote back and told me fat chance.

But in the end, I was probably a poser.
Everyone else probably thought the same thing.

Not everyone. Many years later I ran into this woman with whom I went to both middle school and high school. She was always real cool to me even though she was in the popular crowd. She told me that she always thought I was "totally punk." Sigh. Bernadette thought I was punk. She was way more punk than me.

But all the others probably did think I was a poser. Oh well, I grew out of it by the end of 9th grade.

My memory's a little foggy, but:

"You don't want to look in there."

"One in every car."

The wife and I quote Repo Man to one another all the time. Another staple is:

"Let's get out of this bad area,"

especially if we are meeting up somewhere and driving two cars from the scene. Then we can start with "Follow me in my old lady's car."

Hmmm, I saw (and thoroughly enjoyed) this when it came out, but I cannot for the life of me recall a single line.

Now reading the new Pogues biography which spends a bit of time talking about their relationship w/ Alex. I think he lived in London and was an early fan. He produced an early video for them and they were then invited to play on the Sid 'n Nancy soundtrack, which resulted in them appearing in Straight to Hell, the filming of which described as a completely FU'd and disorganized experience (not having anything to do w/ the Pogues, if youcan believe that!
).....

Hah, I actually meant all the other punk kids thought themselves to be posers too deep down inside.
Typical teenage angst and insecurity that everyone experiences in some form.
