Just saw it, and was blown away with how effective the subtlety of the film works with the vampire genre. While most vampire movies are quite campy, this one gives it more of "realistic" feeling.

I whole wholeheartedly recommend it.

I also saw it and thought it was great. Too bad it's hardly playing in any theaters.

Saw it, loved it.

I heard that it is being adapted for US audiences. I can't imagine it capturing the same feel. I just hope it is also set in the 1980s, in winter. This movie would not be the same without cowichan sweaters.

Despite hearing the reviews before going into the theater, I was completely unprepared for how good this movie was. I can't remember the last time I was so thrilled during a movie, I didnt want it to end. It gets my vote for best film of 2008.

Ive heard it's going to be directed by the guy who did Cloverfield. *Shudder*

It was really, really good.

The "climax" was done very well actually. Not what I had pictured, but it did well to reflect the movie's style of both violence and subtle humor.

Watched it last night...it was really good. I think I saw it mentioned in another thread and decided to download it. Made sure to get one with the theatrical subtitles after hearing about the awful subtitles on some of the US versions (corrected but with no recall of the bad disks).

Reviving old thread because when I looked it up after watching I saw that there is an american remake set to come out in october with the girl from kick ass as the vampire.

Not sure how I feel about american remakes of recent foreign films that were good...same with the hurried efforts to remake the swedish versions of the girl with the dragon tattoo trilogy. I guess if it gets more people interested its a good thing...but its mostly just a money play since americans apparently can't read subtitles.

I saw it at the Angelica NYC a while back. I went into the movie expecting it to be great and left disappointed. It plodded along, I couldn't connect at all with the sniveling spineless boy (he really, really needed to stop sniffling), and it didn't help that the ENTIRE audience laughed when anything remotely scary happened. I do have to say that I like the premise and the story for the most part.

I'm intrigued by the American remake releasing in Oct. It's starring Chloe Morretz who I'm a big fan of after seeing her in Kick Ass and 500 Days of Summer.
