just buy the boutique and save laot of headache .. and u also get to see the shoes in the flesh.. pictures just cant do justice and the perfect fit and comfort can only be tested at the store!

the high asking price is not just for the brand and quality but also for the buying experience..

Will do! I know some people are against Armani but I like it. The Collezioni brand has a nice style that I like. I know it's not as nice as the black label but I don't think there is enough benefitted (I just made that word up) difference to justify the price.

Before you go to the store, try one of the Gucci outlet stores. Depending on your location, there could be one within driving distance. Also, you can find discounted Gucci sneakers at the outlets store for Saks and Neiman Marcus.

A dollar is still worth a dollar, even if you happen to have a few million of them.
Everybody wants to feel like they got a good deal.

I purchased this pair for $137.50 on Ebay. Any comments on its authenticity? I was looking for a pair of shoes to wear with shorts, and I haven't bought into the loafer look, or boat shoes for that matter. Apppearance wise, I thought this looked as good as other options, and it seems to me subtle enough (at least as compared to the sneakers that have the huge GG on the back. Would have preferred brown trim though. Item 220657058926.

I haven't bought any Gucci sneakers, but that box looks nothing like the box their loafers come in. Might be a red flag, but if the sneaker boxes normally look like that, then nevermind.

FWIW, the boxes I've seen are normally darker than that, smaller Gucci print and no made in italy writing.

The Coloring on their box should also be a thin film like material and not just cardboard. The upper right corner seems damaged, so if you see some plastic film breaking off then it is a Gucci Box.

I might pair them with an inverness cape, if I had one.

Failing that? White Kiton jeans and maybe a Ferrari leather jacket.

I'm still leaning cape.

I had a remarkably positive experience while trying on the classic Gucci loafer at their Madison Avenue store. The woman who helped me, the store manager, was warm and very helpful. She went through six pairs of shoes before we concluded that there was no combination of width and length that would work for me. I was surprised that they can change the metal bit from gold to silver, depending on what the customer prefers. This experience reaffirms my belief that shoes should be purchased in the store, rather than online.
