Made in Japan? I thought everything from Fendi was made in italy. That may be a little suspect...

The rolls look a little sloppy too, but I'm not an expert on Fendi's craftmanship or anything.

Another good indicator; how much did you pay for it? where did you get it from?

Odd that it says Made in Japan. I'm a bit confused by the stitched hem with bits of loose thread. It would either be hand-rolled or machine-rolled?

That said - the Japanese are extremely particular about quality and perfection. As a rule, their m/o is one of the last places on earth where it is a point of honour only to purchase the authentic article, even if it means foregoing dinner or paying the rent to acquire a genuine label.

If real - it would have been thrown into a "seconds" bin for the tourist trade?

^I wondered the same thing or that perhaps this scarf was made for the Japanese domestic market and somehow ended up here.

Japan often has licenses still in extent for a lot of brands that here we do not. For example, they still have licenses to make "Made in Japan" items for Gianfranco Ferre, Calvin Klein Collection, Paul Smith, Dunhill, Vivienne Westwood, etc. They even used to have a license to make underwear for Helmut Lang. And, for textile goods (handkerchiefs, scarves, etc.) I've seen made in Japan items for most of the major brands from YSL to Dior to Burberry.

As such, I don't necessarily think it's fake. It just might be something we haven't seen here.
