Leather soled shoes vs. combination leather and rubber shoes?

I have been raised to believe that leather soled shoes are superior to rubber soled shoes.

However, I often see deals on shoes with combination leather and rubber shoes.
Is the purchase of combination leather and rubber type shoes inadvisable for any reason?

Also, I have found threads here on styleforum where people are talking about adding on rubber to normal leather-soled shoes. If adding rubber to leather soles is desireable to anybody for any reason, why not just purchase combination soled shoes?

I have tried to search styleforum for an answer but could not find one.
Lastly, I have attached a picture to illustrate the sort of thing I am talking about in case I did not explain it well.

If you always have contact with wet ground, you would find that your leather soles wearing off pretty fast. Leather soles are good only if you do not have any contact with wet ground.

Adding rubber is to prolong the lifespan of the soles. With regards to why add instead of purchase, you would find that some models have only leather soles.

Rubber holds in heat and water (feet sweat). The water in particular can damage the internals of your shoes.

Leather breathes, so the sole helps keep your feet dry as well as cooler.

Rubber is better for traction in the wet and for country walking. Most wardrobes should have a pair or two of shoes with rubber soles for those occasions, and stick with leather the rest of the time.

Those points aside, a rubber soled shoe can be made less expensively and much of what you see in RTW was done to keep costs down.

When it comes to dress shoes, I am always surprised to see so much written about the "breathing" leather soles being the main advantage of leather soles shoes. For me, an important advantage is the "stability" offered by the leather sole. Much better for your feet when walking the streets, IMO. And I always put rubber protectors on the leather soles, for durability and for improved friction against the ground.

I think that classical shoes must have leather sole, and sportive or walking shoes may have ruber/leather/combination ruber leather/ something else...
