And now, I open the floor to debate, in which I shall challenge the popularity of the Addict AD-01 jacket and why I think the AD-12 is the better choice yet for whatever reason is still under-the-radar.

Actually, I don't feel like writing a long piece after all. Just know this: They share the same measurements EXCEPT for body length.

In general the AD-12 runs about two inches shorter than the AD-01 which lends itself to a more aggressive, and modern, fit. I know Mr. Proper can attest to this.

Fits:

Unfortunately, I do not know Addict jackets. Only from pictures. Short or long is just personal taste. I like the length so that just the belt is covered. Others like it longer.
I'm not sure if Addict jackets are well suited for the non-Asian build, though.
With Lewis Leather, I don't care about the measurements because I give my own when I order anyway. Same with Aero.

By the numbers on Addict website, the body is too long for me by at least 1".

It's probably best to gauge the fit based on a model. Measurements can be misleading.

Didn't go for the leather pants. Yet. But wanted to try something new and to try out Y'2 leather AND wanted to support The Shop Vancouver since it blows my mind that any Canadian city can support a men's fashion brick and mortar, with how people dress here. So of course that leads us to the mysterious and fraught world of leather vests. Never owned a vest before so might as well go big.

Horse hide up top, blue steer hide on the bottom. Really, really nice. Might be the nicest single piece of clothing I've ever handled. Weird and wild but not so crazy that it's against societal norms or anything. The Shop Vancouver had excellent service and the sizing charts really helped me get the sizing I wanted since it would just be worn over a botton up, probably. I'll have to wait until fall to really experiment.

Nice, but I think sizing up 1 would look better. There is a pull on the leather buttoned up

You're not wrong. I have to wear a safety vest at work and it's given me a deep distaste for baggy vests. I'm still stitching up an original disposable one from 2020 since they switched to a new longer style with armholes so big it catches on equipment. So I'm not telling anyone else to try this. I'm experimenting myself but I'm going to see how it breaks in. It's the more comfortable size for me in terms of wearing it. But, again, in the back of my mind I think a loose vest can bring down a steel cage full of parcels on top of me, so I'm biased.

any good inspiration photos of longer leather (non-suede) jackets, knee length or mid-thigh? is it even possible to wear something like that without looking like JP in Grandma's Boy?

Car coats are huge in Japan right now. I got a nice beams one, but there are more from other brands:

I have only ever owned one leather jacket and therefore it's the best I've ever had. It's a slightly unusual one so I can well imagine it's not to everyone's or maybe even anyone's taste... apologies for photos, no long mirrors in the house since the cat tore the hall one down in the middle of the night with an almighty crash.

So, it looks fairly normal here I guess

But it's got this kinda ninja style hood

Also slightly long cuffs on the outside

IMG_20230606_043422173_HDR.jpg

And strange detailing on the zips

Make is one I don't really know much about

IMG_20230606_043512121~2.jpg

I don't really wear it much, not cos I don't like it but just cos it's normally too warm where I live. I think that's a fairly good thing though cos I feel it should last pretty well - I've had it give or take six years already - and always be there if I need it. I'm not really into leather jackets as such, certainly don't follow any fashions relating to them so for me that works well enough.
