Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

Nah I just think the whole conversation and the following comments from people who got confused are really funny. Doesn't happen often that I laugh this hard because of some comments on a forum. No harm meant with that meme of course.

If you look at Thurston's website, a few of their jackets exhibit the same issue. So I assume Vanson just has a bad pattern maker.

I don't like the look of these either, but Vanson is pretty universally praised for its patterns (in the sense of range of movement and so on). I'm guessing even though these collars look weird, the jackets themselves are extremely well cut and wearable. I wouldn't be surprised if at least a couple of these were just cases of weird photos or lack of break in. I have leather jackets that just did not lay right until they were worn for a day, then lay perfectly.

This was the logic that Carrie at Thurston gave when the issue was brought up

1. This is intentional. It's supposed to look like that.
2. But it will go away with time and also not look like that!

Totally bizarre to me. When you look at the Thurston Daredevil thread, multiple people posted photos of them in the jacket and they all exhibited that issue. It was not just one bad model photo. One user ended up selling his jacket years later on B&S and when he posted new fit pics for his classified, the collar gap was still there (no surprise).

If this is a new and unique pattern that Vanson developed for some utilitarian purpose, no other jacket maker agrees with them. Even ones who supposedly make for actual motorcycle riders, such as Schott and Lewis, have leather jackets that hug the neck.

I wasn't talking about the Daredevil/Junya pattern. I've seen the Gambler (the third jacket) worn by someone hugging the back of the neck closely. I don't know about the second jacket.

The JunyaXVanson I have is fine and hugs the neck in the back, don't think this is a general issue....

Then maybe it is a wear/break in thing, because the Junya one has that issue in runway pics.

I came across this Nudie jacket (the “Eddy” model) which is fairly inexpensive by this thread’s standards but it looks good IMO and has interesting leather. €500 retail, 300 something on sale. I like the design, simple black collared jacket without breast pocket (most collared moto jackets have one, e.g. all FCL I’ve seen), and cropped. Buffalo leather.

But it’s remarkable how different it can look depending on photos.

SSense, looks… bad? But tbh the model looks kids overweight (for a model at least) and those trousers… leather looks much more matte too for some reason.

Just tried it on and it really hugs my neck unzipped but is stiff enough that if I fully zip it (I almost never do so I didn't think of that) and am not standing straight it sorta stays in place while my neck is hanging too low. I wouldn't say it is the same as the daredevil and it certainly doesn't bother me but if you're not wearing a scarf+not standing straight+fully zip it+you pay attention to it well you might have a gap (not a sort of hovering collar like seen on daredevil pics though) wearing the Junya.

It’s a no for me. Not a fan of the epaulettes nor the pattern design that connects the button flap with the collar. I prefer the Vanson Maverick. Edit: This screenshot is very old. It's a slim version made for the Japanese market.
