sure I bought my size (advised by addict) but the long version. The jacket I received had paper thin leather with sleeves and body too short. To top it off the Maine zipper was sewn on a bit crooked which they wouldn’t cop to a “defect”. After a bunch of back and forth I got my refund but they sent me a **** product.

now look I’ve received carmina and CCP boots with actual slashes like someone took a knife to them and both retailers immediately apologized and gave me a refund. But to tell me your crookedly sewn on zipper isn’t a defect is beyond me.

i am a very loyal customer and can tolerate small imperfections but hate when a retailer is not accommodating.

Thanks for that. It's difficult to get returns and refunds from Japanese stores from my observations. Most are final sale unless there are damages or the retailer made a mistake. Did they specify how many oz. (thickness) the leather was supposed to be? I tend to look for 3 to 3.5 oz. which is around 1.2 to 1.44mm. I might be ok 1.0mm as well.

I don't understand sinneds perspective on leather thickness. If either of my addicts were thicker they would be unwearable. That sucks about the zipper though.

That's what I'm trying to clarify further. Would you know the leather weight of your Addict jacket?

Yeah I hate the tailor tax with sleeves but what are ya gonna do. That good advice though, just to see how much more I'll be in for. I wonder if they can shorten from the sleeve and just put in a shorter zipper. I don't care if the zips at the end are shorter than they are currently.
Alternate option- the IH jacket is made by Simmons Bilt; you could email them about getting one with shorter sleeves. They do customization and they're good people.

I think the ones made by Simmons Bilt are different, though in a similar style; these are made in Japan.

No they did not specify that at all so that was extremely unexpected. But as I said the zipper was defective and that was the biggest problem. Look leather thickness is not necessarily the make it or break it. My IH is not as thick as the FCL, but is nice and substantial, I cant say the leather is paper thin but thinner than FCL. James Grose is probably same thickness like addict, I'd say a little thicker. I tried that on as well and fit wasn't for me.

Addict were very nice with the exchange and giving me advice on measurements but after that snafu I decided I rather try on jackets in future not to have this happen. hence, I accept that some makers I just won't be able to have unless I try on and believe me I want BBS/Incarnation/Backlash.

I really didnt want to blast Addcit but its been years so I think its not a big deal and I am not planning to buy from them anyways.

look at this zipper:

All of my jackets besides the lamb RO are thicker than the Addict for context. 316xSchoot and FCL being the thickest and btw those are thicker than CCP.

I def think trying things on in person is probably the best for everyone. My point was just that I can't imagine those leathers being that comfy. The addicts are at the upper limits of comfort for to their thickness given the stiffness of horsehide.

Ah, yeah, you're right. A lot of IH jackets are done by Simmons Bilt, I missed that that's one of the exceptions.

I'd still recommend SB, if you can't find something off the rack that works for you. They're very willing to work with you on making a jacket that's exactly what you want.

Someone was talking about D pocket jackets some time ago, this just dropped at SE
Fine Creek Shinki Horsehide Jacket - Harris (selfedge.com) View attachment 1606698
Interesting jacket. Note the throat latch.

Per the chart, the size 44 measure 27.75”, which is a very healthy length for a DR. Very tall people should be pleased. Too long for me, as is the case with several of the FCL jackets I tried.

At this price point, I would pay a little extra for TFH Delraiser all day long.
