Leather Jackets: Post Pictures of the Best You've Seen/Owned?

Note to all: For all the praise Fine Creek Leathers gets and at the hefty $2000 price tag, try to avoid moving your arms when wearing their latest Roberts jacket. This just happened to me late tonight.

I am not a happy camper right now. Worn this jacket maybe less than 8 hours in total.

Hey everyone! I bought a Rick Owens Mollino last summer and it has since then become my favourite leather jacket. I am therefore planning to buy another quite similar model from RO, which is called the Bauhaus jacket. There are some variations of this model in the current Performa collection, could you give me your opinion on these two and tell me, which one you’d prefer? I am tending to the version with the clean surface (calf), however, I also like the quite special surface of the other jacket (lamb). Thank you in advance!

Wear it till your regular body heat actually allows the jacket to soften. It sounds like while the jacket is comfortable at this point, you still havent fully broken it in.

I think some jackets are just squeaky. I have a vintage Schott that's beat to hell. Probably owned by an actual biker in its past life. It's still kind of squeaky when I wear it.

I suppose I would be more self-conscious of it if I wore it to a library, but it seems fine in day to day life. In normal environments, you hardly hear it.

Honestly, I'm on the fence about fixing it at this point. I just processed a drop-off order via Fedex.com to ship it back to Japan and that alone is going to cost me upwards of $219, then Kiya at Self Edge is going to eat any duties and return charges. So yeah, FCL is offering to fix it for "free" but it's going to cost me and Kiya money. That's crazy for a 2-month old jacket I've worn no more than 3 times to run quick errands.

I can still cancel the Fedex shipment and not be charged. I might just look into a leather glue or something I can dab the area (it's unseen and under the armpit). I'd hate to shell out the money, wait a few weeks (or months, who knows?) for it to come back then just have another rip happen somewhere else down the road. As it is, I'd colder now in Texas so I want to wear this thing while I can, not send it halfway around the world only to get it back when it's warm again.

I know it sucks and is super frustrating, but $219 and a bit more time to get a $2000 jacket fixed vs. gluing a rip is not even close, imo.

FWIW, I've worn my Roberts as much as I could this FW (5-6x maybe) and haven't been particularly gentle with it, no issues. I wouldn't make a decision on it thinking about it ripping again. But obviously, it's your money and your choice.

Is there anyway you can get it fixed by someone trustworthy and more local and ask FCL to refund you the repair cost? Seems like that would be cheaper for everyone and you'd get the jkt back faster.

Christ, man, cancel the shipment and get it repaired locally. I hope I'm not too late! That's literally $20 repair by ANY leather maker. It's an inch of reinforced stitching, you literally can't go any other way about it & every tailor will do the exact same thing as anyone in Japan. Nobody is going to glue your jacket.
