Sorry I just realized I misread your post. Obviously "up in arms" has a certain element of aggressiveness/confrontation and I skimmed those words somewhat and missed that connotation the first time -- I thought you were saying people shouldn't feel upset if their leathers receive spills/stains. Personally, if somebody spills something on me at a bar, inside my head I am screaming YOU FUCKER but outwardly I will say "that's okay"/"whaddaya gonna do" and then high-tail it to the nearest cleaning / kleenex-equipped facility. But I certainly wouldn't attack whoever was responsible. My bad on reading comprehension.
