I want to rip off somebody's ideas for a bespoke jacket. But I can't decide who. I started a thread about it over at the Fedora Lounge https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/looking-for-inspiration-for-a-bespoke-bike-jacket.98450/

Also, here are some photos of the Aero Real Deal A2. Really like the leather. Seal jerky horsehide has a nice grain (I take it they tumble it a little to get the effect for this jacket) and is lightweight. Like the color a lot.

Sizing turned out OK. I went with a 44 based on the chest and shoulders (which seem to run quite trim... the 44 has a 18.5" shoulder), and I think that was right. Wearing it over just a shirt I've got good mobility, but can feel that a size down would be constrictive. Should be OK with a layer underneath as well. Took 1/2 inch off the sleeves, but went with the standard 26" body length.

Love the button down collar.

What feels a little wonky is the sweep. The jacket seems to have a slight bell shape and the waist band is not tight when I zip it up. I can't find the measurements Aero sent me, but I thought I checked the sweep and it looked OK. I might have gone with a 42 waist on a 44 chest and shoulders perhaps.

That all may settle down once the jacket isn't brand new.

I'll post a fit pic so you all can see.

Which also leads me to my announcement that I'm banning myself from ordering directly from Aero. If I order another jacket someday, I'll definitely use Thurston Bros. for a fit jacket.

But here are the photos.

You bet! I get those up in the next couple of days.

So I did go back and find the emails with the sizing and it turns out that Aero didn't give me a sweep measurement because, as they said, the measurement varies depending on the tension of the ribbing at the waist. Not sure I buy that exactly, since the pattern has to have a defined sweep at the end of the leather. Anyway, I'd say the waist band knits on the jacket doesn't feel very substantial (though the knits at the cuffs do feel more substantial, oddly) and isn't putting the waist under any obvious tension.

Huge thanks to Steveoffice for the hookup on this - stellar dude to buy things from.

Was worried that the 46 would be too small on me, but took a gamble because I really wanted one. It's fitted, but I think it looks alright and it's not too tight anywhere

Out of focus pics (sorry)

Does look good. I'd say size up and the sleeves could be too long, so you did good with this one.

I don't like that jacket. Sleeves way too long. Looks like Club Room from Macy's.
