How durable/useful is a black suede/shearling DR in the winter though? I imagine the snow might wreck it pretty quickly, and I have no idea how black suede (or most suede) jackets age. Do you have any thoughts?

I have a bunch of suede jackets and they've been fine. Suede is going to show its wear more than smoother leathers, and it picks up oils a bit easily (even from, say, your hair or skin). But depending on the design, I think the wear can look good. Just makes it look less pristine and precious. Although with something like a fine Loro Piana style design, maybe you don't want that.

That Grose looks rugged enough where beat-up suede prob looks good. Only thing is that shearling is expensive to clean, although you don't have to clean it very often. Most dry cleaners can't handle shearling, so you have to take it to a specialist.

Looks like Hermes is going to trend printed leather...
Black shearing + leather combo is also in jacket and coat form. I feel it’s a new classic

I like how jacket with buttons creates creasing pattern like that on the torso panel.

I have a few, and yes I wear it every day, more or less. I wear the CCP scarstitch as well, but I am a creature of habit, and find myself reaching for the Aero a ton. I like the weight, and I love the Type 3 style (I have a couple of other Aeros that get a lot less wear). After so much (and hard) use, I'm starting to get that underlying color just peeking through at the elbow creases, but not very much. it looks awesome, like a second skin.

I can attest to the Aero’s Type 3 awesomeness. Fok did a good job breaking it in.

On a side note, I got a new-to-me calfskin MMM 5-zip yesterday. Seemed practically brand new, flat with hardly any wear. I thought, Meh, I don’t know what the big deal is about these jackets, but whatever.

Wore it in the rain this morning on my bike, it got soaked, rode home with it still damp, and just got home, looked in the mirror, and thought, What an awesome jacket. Amazing what riding in the rain can do to make a jacket look rad. All crease-y and shaped like a second skin.
