Bit the bullet on a Schott 530. It's a 530 with some custom features by the retailer, Ball & Buck in Boston. I think the leather is the same as a standard 530 but Ball & Buck added their own plaid cotton lining, label, underarm eyelets and antique brass hardware.

MSRP is the same as a 530 from Schott. It worked out well as I could try it on and was able to buy at a nice discount. It's soft off the rack which was important to me. I can't wear it to work so it would take forever to break in a stiffer jacket. I like the medium brown color and slight pebble grain waxy cowhide. While it's not a custom Aero, I think it will serve my needs for years to come.

Thanks again @Watchman1, appreciate your thoughts.

better to just fold/ spread it more between the first and second button I guess it is meant to be worn as shawl collar by looking at other jackets made by other makers of the same design, as how the model in your link wears it the collar lapel looks too small, better to pop it up or spread more.

Yeah, I saw that now that I googled...

That's their official site. I think it's just the fold of the jacket thats off and I can deal with that myself

Very true. I’d only do the cotton if I could have something smooth in the sleeves.

So just compare cotton vs. viscose satin body lining.

I don't like cotton sleeve linings on anything... cotton lining on the body of the jacket is fine, though
