Hi Guys,

Quick question, is there any acceptable way to wear a leather jacket/coat over a suit? If yes, which style of leather jacket/coat?

Thanks!

I don't think i've ever seen this done before, as leather jackets are supposed to be quite fitted to the body which leaves little room for suits/shirts.

maybe something like this would look pretty cool with a suit underneath (interested to see if others agree or disagree):

curious - are you asking for motorcycle related purposes?

Yea, I haven't seen it done before either, usually in a business casual type of ensemble

Not really, just wanted to see if there's a way to incorporate leather with a business suit

I do this sometimes, mostly when it is raining out and I leave the jacket at my office. Throw on a close cut biker jacket for a more rugged look.

I am not a fan of jackets over a suit coats. A leather coat could work, but at the risk of replicating the stereotypical Nazi/Gestapo look (see Indiana Jones)

It'd be better nonchalant rather than with any studied purpose, i.e., if you have to do it, it's okay, if you're thinking about some ensemble for a special event it'll look contrived and kind of bad.

I go to a private school, where the wear of dress shirts and ties and all that is mandatory. In the rather cold winter, I've thrown on a leather bomber jacket. I haven't thought twice about it.

At school many things are different from the time after school. I would not hesitate mixing suit and leather jacket at school/college/university, but I think it looks terrible in a business / professional environment when you should get an overcoat.

Yeah. I'd agree with you. Makes sense.
