Leather jacket lining protrudes past zippers (wrinkle, defect?) -- first time leather jacket owner

I recently purchased a leather jacket and noticed that the lining on both sides of the jacket are protruding either out past, or next to, the zippers. I have attached a couple photos below to help explain this visually.

I have tried to push the flaps back in, however they always come back out when I put on the jacket. This jacket is new so it hasn't yet been broken in.

Is this expected of a leather jacket? As this is my first leather jacket, I'm not sure if I should go back in for an exchange as the store is not the most convenient to reach for me. I notice this every time I put the jacket on as it makes the jacket look thicker than it is.

Normal, akaik. My leather jackets are the same. Think it’s meant to somewhat visually cover the zipper.
