Leather discoloration due to shoe polish

Hi all,

I bought these Meermin monks a while back and am loving it. I discovered that the toe cap has developed a purplish hue and dark spots, which could only be seen under strong lighting. I suspect this is due to poor mirror shinning technique and lower quality shoe polish.









Are there any ways that I can return the toe cap to its original color? How can I prevent the dark spots?
