Leather bomber ring around collar, DIY shearling????

Not sure if this is the right place to post, I am new to the forum and this is my second thread.

I bought a used Polo A-2 style brown leather bomber jacket that I am very happy with except that it has a pretty dark ring around the collar. I have tried cleaning it myself using dove men care face soap and it did seem like a lot of oil came off onto the rag but it still doesn't look much better so I took it to a leather specialist that got really good reviews online and the guy told me it won't come out.

Has anyone had success?

Also what do you think about having shearling sewn onto the collar? Has anyone had that done? Is that something you could have done?

I appreciate any advice

Thanks

The discoloration is from a combination of sweat, skin oil and hair product. That's the danger with brown/tan leather jackets (I'm assuming that's what you have).

I don't think there's a sure-fire fix, but I would try repeated applications of some kind of foaming leather cleaner like Lexol. Perhaps you can eventually draw out the dirt/oil. Worst case, you have to recondition the collar.

I guess I will try the Lexol, I found a kit with cleaner and conditioner for <$20
