Camel GD has not been, and will not be, stocked on DBF’s website. Other retailers may stock it later in the season. That is an unknown. We do know that certain retailers are not picking it up. So, either preorder and guarantee you will get it, or hope that other retailers have picked up a coat that will likely sit at $2k plus.

I think it would be smart if they had a deposit option on the site.

I was wondering the final sale since nothing like that is stated, and the Painter’s Jacket in Paprika Belgian Linen was for preorder at one point. I noticed pieces that had to have been returned were then stocked on the item’s web page. It’s tough to believe the Camel Grandad Trench Coat wouldn’t be in stock after the preorder. @Newcomer, how do you know this to be the case?

@docwrap - DBF said that was the case. Straight from the horse’s mouth. I’m not surprised with a high priced item like this. DBF is not THAT large of an operation, and stocking a full size run would be like $30k in inventory (assuming three in each).

Ah, well, I appreciate you letting us know that specific detail then. It is a great item, so I'm also not surprised they would make a special case for it.

Ive never owned a long coat. I’m 5’9.5 am I too short?
It’s gonna sound harsh, but I think you probably are to short. IME you need the length to hit you in the right spot, otherwise they look like they’re swallowing you.

Not sure 5'9" is considered "short." I'm 5'10" and would consider myself to be of average height. And in any case, you can always shorten a coat from the hem. The alterations is not that expensive or difficult.

Very true about the alteration option. Though surely the proportions would play a part in the coat looking to long or not?

I realize the question was just framed as “I’m 5”9.5’ am I too short?” but having seen the poster’s fit pics, he’s a pretty stocky guy for his height, therefore probably needing a fairly large chest size for his height, making the jacket longer off the rack.

I guess at the end of the day it’s hard to say as it’s personal preference/ comfort. I’m a touch under 6”2’ and still have some issues with long coats.

Shorten the coat and use the material for a spare coat belt.

I don't think height is an insurmountable obstacle though, there's no shortage of great looking way shorter people with way bigger coats. As with most things, the answer is: bigger trousers, to even things out. And embracing being swallowed, feels great.

What’s been your guys’ experiences with DBF sizing for tops? From the SS20 pieces I got, I found myself to be a Large in knits and Tees but a Medium/Size 48 in outerwear. With that being said, I’m looking to pre-order a size 48 in the Grandad Trench Coat, and I would appreciate any insight and help as I want to make sure the sizing is right and the coat can potentially fit a few layers underneath.
