My wife and I each have one or two lattes a day. Currently use a stove-top Bialetti Moka Express, which I like. However, looking to buy something that wouldn't require the use of a stove-top, would be (hopefully) easier to clean, and results in a better quality drink.

I know the single-cup, capsule-based makers are pretty popular now (e.g., Nespresso). What suggestions do you have for me? Thanks.

you can get as deep into coffee makers as you can into clothes (or anythign else guys like). check out coffeegeek. they have great reviews. you can get something somewhat servicable for under $100, or you can spend a couple grand. i find the real difference is not just the quality of the espresso, but oddly enough, how well it steams milk. most of the less expensive models won't really push enough steam. I've used a rancilio silvia for probably 15 years now and swear by it. it's not as good as some, but the thing is a tank and makes great espresso and steams milk well.

If don't want to get into the bottomless pit known as homebrew espresso, get an Aeropress. It doesn't produce real espresso for lattes, but it produces very good coffee with brew strength equal to espresso, is very cheap, small, and easy to clean up.

For straight espresso, the Nespresso is pretty bad.

http://www.amazon.com/Nespresso-Citi...511392&sr=8-47 so my folks have this one at their house and it works really well, i almost bought one but i drink more coffee than espresso, it does put you in dependency on the capsules but they are really good, from first hand experience its good

The capsules are so easy. Ideal for the occasional latte or when you have a lot of guests and don't want to be making lots of espressos.
