i went in the lattanzi and berluti stores in nyc. i think i saw a price of $4500 in the lattanzi store for most of their shoes. i liked both of these stores and am thinking about buying some of these shoes. was that price correct on lattanzis? they were great looking, but i cannot spend that on a pair of shoes. are berlutis worth their tag? they are both great looking shoes. thanks in advance for your help.

Aren't Lattanzi's also sold at Barney's? I thought they were more like $1,250 and up there. That was 2 or 3 years ago, but I don't think there's THAT much inflation.

You should not pay $4,500 for a pair of Lattanzi RTW. You can get a pair of bespoke shoes from a different maker for that much money. Less, actually.

As for Berluti, the answer depends on what you are looking for.
Cons:
1. Their construction quality is sub-par in their price range.
2. So is their leather quality.

However, pros:
1) Their burnishing is excellent if that floats your boat
2) You aren't going to get their more extreme styling anywhere else.

So, in short, they are worth it if you get their more extreme styled shoes but not if you get, say, a black captoe, as you will be paying the Berluti markup without getting the Berluti signature stuff. The sub-par shoe quality is worth it if you are instead paying for their styling (which I personally do not like, but you may). So, get a crazy one if you like it. Otherwise, avoid.

That's what having Ahnold as a customer would do to your appetite

Last time I check Lattanzi RTW started around 2.5k but easily went over 3k. Their boots I think are more expensive and some of the more fancy stitching around the sole also adds to the cost. So RTW might be over 4k if you have all the bells and whistles. I think bespoke starts at 4k or so but boots and special detailing adds to the price.

I think the Berluti black wholecut is interesting b/c you can patinize it to have shades of blue or purple or whatever.

Generally true but I'm not sure I would always agree with this. It depends a bit on the shoe. Yes, you can often do better with JL or EG but my Berlutis have held up surprisingly well and the styling can be sublime. The Olga III line is very well made.
